A letter from Danny Pelfrey about the "Felicity and Ben theme" -----Original Message-----
Kristi, Thank you so much for your help in letting fans know about this piece. I too have gotten many emails about it, and I guess they came through your site. I would also like to give my thanks to Brad Gardner who you indicate discovered the clip at my site. There is no way to describe how much it means to a composer to have his/her work noticed and appreciated by people and I have to thank you for this. You are correct about the origin of this piece. I was calling it "Ruby's Theme", and it was originally used in the episode where Ruby found out she was pregnant and they had to decide what to do. It also surfaced again a few episodes later. Here, Ruby had decided to leave and go have her baby. The theme played this time under Ruby and Noel talking on a bench and at the end she walks away. Here it was played on acoustic guitar ? also very effective! Since this piece has been noticed, you may find it interesting to know that it had it's true beginning about twelve years ago as something I wrote for my wife Linda and we always called it " Linda’s Song". There’s actually even more to the music than I had time for on the show. It's an honor to have it become "Ben and Felicity’s Theme". You are correct... as of this season. I am no longer writing for the show, however I continue to hear cues of mine still being used. I most recently won the Video Premiere Award and I am currently writing the music for "Spin City" on ABC and "That’s Life" on CBS. Please tune in! Kristi, again I'm very grateful for your help. If you'd like any more information about me and my music let me know and I’ll get it to you. Please stay in touch, and I wish you and yours a happy holiday season. All the Best, Danny Pelfrey |
